**** POSITION PURPOSE

SUMMARY:

** The Sales Associate provides service to customers, sorts incoming products, and assists in the efficient and effective maintenance of thrift store operations.
** RESPONSIBILITIES AND

ACCOUNTABILITIES :
*** Contributes to meeting store sales budgets by maintaining customer service standards.
* May assist with store layout plans to attract customers including window displays and merchandise displays.
* Replenish inventory levels based on directions.
* Contributes to the control of inventory by retrieving, sorting, and pricing as per directions; protects the store from inventory shrinkage by close visual monitoring.
* Takes responsibility for the accurate financial transactions including credit card, debit, and cash.
* Perform daily cash-outs, including balancing sales and floats.
* Complies with atl safety procedures and in/outdoor tidy maintenance guidelines. Performs janitorial duties as requested.

Not all incumbents perform all of the duties described above but perform a similar range of duties.

** Reports directly to the Retail Shift Supervisor Direct reports for this position:
None
* This position is responsible for their own time and effort only. They may demonstrate work methods to new employees, volunteers, or students.
** FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT:
*** Processes sales transactions, no budget responsibilities.
* Responsible for the safekeeping of thrift store supplies and equipment for business use.

* WORKING CONDITIONS:

**
* ** This is an On Call Casual Position.
*** Serves in a store or warehouse, within a busy CFS ministry. The location of work may create a possibility of experiencing the following disagreeable conditions: angry/abusive people and verbal abuse, minor risk of harm, injury, illness due to physical attacks from others and/or exposure to infectious diseases.
* Emergency Response situations (fire, bomb threat, etc)
* Dirty environment / odours (garbage, washrooms) o Truck fumes o Excessive noise o Work schedule may impact life (weeknights and weekends)
* Monotonous work (repetitive tasks) o Increased potential for on-site accidents (moving or sharp objects) o Exposure to toxic chemicals o Exposure to bodily fluids o Other potentially dangerous situations (unsafe donations)
* Store Hours generally Monday — Saturday but require some flexibility for special events or urgent situations.
* Not required to travel.
** HEALTH & SAFETY:
*** Required to complete general orientation, including safety in the workplace training and annual review.
* Contributes to the safety of staff and customers (e.g. snow removal, clear fire exits, no obstacles inside/outside store/warehouse, cleans spillage).
* Universal precautions: wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) as required, including gloves/glasses.
• Use anti-fatigue mats when necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:
