Job Description
Catholic Social Services is currently seeking a part‑time overnight, awake position of 36 hours per week, Child & Youth Care Worker in Edmonton to join our Sebastian House. You will provide client‑centered care and support high‑risk youth.

Schedule:

Overnight awake position, average 36 hours per week. 4 on / 4 off rotation. Mondays: 10:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. Tuesday–Thursday: either 10:00 p.m.– 7:00 a.m. or 11:00 p.m.– 7:00 a.m. Friday & Saturday: 10:00 p.m.–10:00 a.m.

Program Overview
Sebastian House is a long‑term residential group program for high‑risk youth aged 13‑18 involved with addictions, criminal activity, gang affiliation, or possible PSECA involvement. These youth engage in high‑risk behaviors including gang recruitment, prostitution, and hard drug use.

Job Summary
As a Child and Youth Care Worker, you will assess needs, provide counseling and life‑skills training, and ensure basic needs are met. You will work with individuals with behavioral disabilities such as ADHD, ODD, and RAS. You will create a safe, warm, and positive environment and support youth in developing healthy relationships.

Oversee service plans for children/youth

Supervise and support children and youth in a residential setting

Assist children/youth in overcoming barriers and developing relationships with the community

Provide life‑skills teaching and in‑the‑moment learning with a hands‑on approach

Assist children/youth in attending appointments and educational placements or day programs

Submit required program documentation within established time‑frames

Perform basic housekeeping and meal preparation duties

Other duties as required

Qualifications

A Diploma or Degree in Human Services (or equivalent)

Minimum of two years of experience counseling children/youth with behavioral disabilities

Ability to build connections with youth

Experience with children and youth in residential care, case management required

Certification or training in Aboriginal Awareness, Abuse Awareness, First Aid, Medication Administration, and Violence/Crisis Intervention is an asset

The ideal candidate will have an organized and compassionate approach, strong teamwork skills, and a commitment to developing positive relationships. Additional qualifications include:

Effective communication, collaboration, crisis intervention, and conflict management with clients

Willingness to be trained on physical holds

Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training (NVCI) completed on hire

Assessment, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking skills

Knowledge of community resources (asset)

Intermediate competency with Microsoft Office

Professionalism, confidentiality, and diplomacy

Case documentation and reporting practices

Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Search current within six months

2 years of driving experience (asset)
