About the Role
The Team Lead plays a key role in supporting the daily operations and service delivery of the Homeward Bound program. This position provides leadership, guidance, and mentorship to frontline staff while ensuring program participants receive compassionate, client‑centered support focused on housing stability and wellness.
The role promotes strong case management practices that support community integration, connection to natural and professional supports, and long‑term housing stability. It also helps foster a collaborative team environment and ensures services align with program and funder standards, organizational values, and Housing First principles.
This is a full‑time position (37.5 hours per week) with a flexible schedule that may include evenings and weekends. The role is a 1‑year contract covering a maternity leave replacement and may be extended or shortened with advance notice provided in writing.
ResponsibilitiesProgram & Service Delivery
- Design, implement, and evaluate program components to ensure effectiveness and impact.
- Identify and apply improvements to service delivery, systems, and procedures.
- Develop or source program materials and tools to support staff and participant learning.
- Advocate for participants and ensure ethical, inclusive service delivery.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate staff, volunteers, and students.
- Ensure staff accountability to service standards, ethical practices, and contract compliance.
- Lead team meetings and contribute to organizational leadership forums.
- Maintain comprehensive records including participant data and program outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and health and safety standards.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners and stakeholders.
- Promote programs to achieve participation and financial goals.
- Collaborate with agencies, schools, and businesses to identify needs and deliver joint services.
- Represent the YMCA in community networks and initiatives.
- Participate in fundraising and philanthropic initiatives as required.
- Develop and implement effective communication strategies with program partners.
- University degree in Human Services, Education, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years in a supervisory role.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in a team‑based environment.
- Experience working with diverse, high‑needs, or marginalized populations using a culturally sensitive and trauma‑informed approach.
- Registration with a regulated professional body (as required by law).
- Intermediate (Standard) First Aid, CPR/AED Level C, WHMIS.
- Clear Police Intervention Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
- Preferred:
Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention and Suicide Intervention certification. - Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office and other forms of technology effectively.
- Knowledge of community resources.
- Valid Driver’s License and reliable vehicle.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends as needed for community events or meetings.
