Otipemisiwak Métis Government seeks a dedicated Language Coordinator for Children and Family Services in Edmonton. Focus on the integration of Michif language through strategic collaboration and cultural awareness.
In this full-time position, the coordinator will work closely with the Intergovernmental Relations Languages Team.
Your role is to promote the Michif language's use and ensure its effective integration into various CFS programs and initiatives. This includes managing translation requests and ensuring cultural alignment with language standards, fostering a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Coordinate translation for CFS-related materials
• Ensure linguistic consistency with Métis cultural intent
• Include phonetic elements for better accessibility
• Build relationships for successful language initiatives
• Manage the integration of Michif into community events
Requirements:
• Post-secondary degree in a language or education field
• Experience in language-related project coordination
• Familiarity with Indigenous organizations is an asset
• Excellent communication and organization skills
• Cultural sensitivity and a commitment to Michif revitalization
