In-Home Support Workers
Nakiiwin Azheyaaksin Employment Opportunity In-Home Support Worker Wiikwemkoong Child and Family Services is seeking 4 qualified individuals to fill the positions of In-Home Support Workers. Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory (WUT) Child and Family Services oversees and advocates for child and family matters by following the principals and ethics of Wiikwemkoong’s Gchi Naaknigewin, Wiikwemkoong’s Children’s Bill of Rights and Wiikwemkoong Community Standards. This will ensure the services are culturally appropriate to support the community’s children and families in alignment with Anishnaabe values and practices.
The In-Home Support Worker will report directly to their immediate Supervisor.
- Will represent and advocate for families at risk of involvement in child welfare by helping families ensure their rights are being upheld.
- Will offer support, guidance and resources to families to navigate the complexities of the child welfare system.
- Conduct regular home visits to assess the family environment, provide support and monitor progress.
- Connecting families with necessary services and resources including parenting, budgeting, counseling and drug and alcohol services, healthcare, education and housing assistance.
- Advocate for the needs and rights of children and youth within the community ensuring their voices are heard and their well-being is prioritized.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of all interactions, case notes, case plans and progress reports.
- Ensure confidentiality and safekeeping of all program documents and records are secured.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training to stay informed about best practices in child welfare and family preservation.
- A Social Work degree or a related degree in social services field is preferred.
- 2 years’ work-related experience will be considered.
- Knowledge of Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory’s programs and services.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to advocate for children and family’s needs.
- Excellent conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with various office systems and proficient computer skills.
- Ability to understand and speak Anishnaabemowin is a definite asset.
Salary: $83,851 Grade 8, Step 1
