Job Summary:
PART TIME
Available Positions
This position as a Student Assistance Program (SAP) Liaison provides screening, assessments and collaboration of mental health services for students between parents, school officials, and outside agencies.
Essential Functions of Position
Collaborate with parents, teachers, school administration, and outside agencies through phone calls, meetings, and ESAP meetings.
Assist students in the coordination of needed services (i.e., MA loopholes).
Screen and complete assessments on referred students and recommend mental health services.
Coordinate and assist with establishing psychiatric services when needed.
Collaborate with Millcreek Community Hospital on discharge plans.
Make referrals to outside agencies for services.
Provide individual and group counseling.
Complete and submit electronic monthly data tracking spreadsheet to IU5.
Utilize Behavioral Health Works (BH-Works) for initial assessments with middle and high school students.
Attend mandatory quarterly IU5 SAP meetings.
Professional Responsibilities
Understand and fulfill job duties within the scope of the mission statement.
Adhere to the policies and procedures of the agency.
Maintain professional relationships with agency personnel, school personnel, students, families, and outside agencies.
Meet with supervisor regularly to discuss expectations and job duties.
Fulfill training requirements as outlined in the Staff Development policy and as required by the contract with the school district and the Intermediate Unit.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Superior interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain relationships on a professional level.
Knowledge of community resources utilized for referrals.
Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
Ability to prioritize work and handle multiple tasks efficiently and effectively.
Ability to maintain records and documents efficiently.
Basic knowledge of office equipment including printer, fax machine, and copier.
Required Education, Experience, and Clearances
Master’s Degree in the social services/education field required.
Licensed Professional Counselor preferred.
Student Assistance Program training required through the Intermediate Unit.
FBI, Child Abuse History, PA State Police, and Driver Clearances. Other clearances may be required dependent on residency status.
Physical Demands
Lifting requirement of less than 10lbs on an occasional basis.
