Position: Counsellor I with Indigenous Focus
Join Mac Ewan University as a full-time Counsellor I in Wellness and Psychological Services. This role emphasizes culturally sensitive programming and Indigenous wellness practices to support student mental health.

The position seeks a candidate with lived Indigenous experiences and knowledge in Indigenous ways of knowing. During this tenure-track role, you will collaborate closely with the kihêw waciston Indigenous Centre to offer both individual and group counseling services. Your expertise will enhance Indigenous-focused programming and develop resources that address the holistic needs of students.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide in-person and virtual counseling for mental health concerns

• Assess student well-being and create culturally appropriate treatment plans

• Implement Indigenous wellbeing practices in counseling sessions

• Support at-risk students in accessing campus resources

• Develop and facilitate group therapy sessions and workshops

Requirements:

• Master's degree in Counseling or related field

• Registration with Alberta Psychologists or Social Workers

• Experience in counseling, case management, and group facilitation

• Knowledge of Indigenous communities and cultures preferred

• Ethical engagement with Indigenous communities
