STUDENT HEALTH AND WELLNESS CENTRE
Reporting to the Manager of Wellness, the Counsellor provides professional and ethical mental health support to students, fostering personal and academic coping skill development. This role supports students through face-to-face and virtual counselling services, crisis intervention, referrals to internal and external resources, wellness initiatives, and mental health awareness activities. This is a permanent, 0.5 FTE role.
HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE   Provide professional mental health support to students through face-to-face and virtual counselling services.
Provide crisis intervention, drop-in counselling, and risk assessment support to at-risk students.
Develop treatment plans and provide counselling services in alignment with College of Alberta Psychologists standards of practice.
Work within a multidisciplinary team to support student wellbeing, safety, and positive outcomes.
Participate in and lead Wellness initiatives, projects, events, and activities that support student mental health.
Develop and deliver classroom presentations, resources, and workshops on mental health topics.
Participate in the Transition to Employment admissions process, including reviewing psycho educational assessments and supporting admission recommendations.
Collaborate with college departments, student support areas, and community resources to ensure students receive appropriate support and referrals.
Maintain accurate statistical records, professional documentation, and confidential student information.
Contribute to process improvement, team initiatives, and divisional priorities that support student success and wellbeing.
WHAT YOU BRING   Master's Degree in Counselling Psychology or Educational Psychology.
Registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists and a Telehealth Training Certificate.
Minimum five years of counselling experience; experience in a post-secondary environment is considered an asset.
Experience providing trauma-informed psychosocial interventions, crisis counselling, and suicide risk assessment.
Experience interpreting psycho educational assessments and understanding their functional impacts.
Experience working in multidisciplinary environments, developing resources, leading projects, and establishing community partnerships and referral networks.
Strong critical thinking, communication, case management, organizational, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.

Demonstrate professionalism, discretion, empathy, and sound judgment when working with diverse student populations.
Work independently while maintaining a student-centered approach and responding effectively to changing student and organizational needs.
