Position Summary

Prospect Human Services has secured funding through the Alberta Mentoring Partnership (AMP) to deliver the Mentoring for Youth & Young Adults from Care (MYYAC) program. The Life Skills Facilitator will design and deliver non-career-focused group life skills mentoring and community connection programming for youth and young adults transitioning out of government care, working alongside Prospect's existing Youth Employment Connections Program (YECP) and Youth Apprenticeship Connections Program (YACP) teams.

This is a hands‑on, community‑facing role grounded in trauma‑informed, strengths‑based, and culturally responsive practice.

What will you do?
  • Facilitate group life skills sessions over the contract term, including financial literacy and budgeting, housing readiness, healthy relationships and boundaries, rights and self‑advocacy, wellbeing and mental health, online safety, and independent living skills.
  • Plan and deliver a minimum of 9 social connection and community engagement events for program participants.
  • Facilitate using trauma‑informed, strengths‑based, and youth‑centered approaches, incorporating art‑based and experiential methods where appropriate.
  • Coordinate with Elders and Indigenous community partners to embed culturally grounded programming, including honoraria and protocol practices.
  • Maintain accurate intake, attendance, and evaluation records to meet AMP reporting and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with the existing YECP/YACP teams to coordinate support for shared clients.
  • Support participants transitioning out of Child Intervention, the Transition to Adulthood Program (TAP), and Advancing Futures, connecting them to Prospect's broader employment programming as appropriate.
  • Attend the AMP MYYAC Program Orientation Session and ongoing funder check‑ins as required.
  • Travel locally to program and community sites as needed.
What does it take to do this job?
  • Diploma or degree in Social Work, Child & Youth Care, Human Services, or a related field, or equivalent combination of lived and professional experience.
  • Experience facilitating group programming or workshops with youth and young adults, ideally including those with care experience.
  • Familiarity with Child Intervention, the Transition to Adulthood Program (TAP), and Advancing Futures, or a demonstrated ability to learn these systems quickly.
  • Trauma‑informed, culturally responsive facilitation skills, with comfort and respect working alongside Elders and Indigenous community partners.
  • Strong organizational skills, including session planning, attendance tracking, and program reporting.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • A clear Vulnerable Sector Check / Security Clearance is required prior to starting.
Further Notes
  • All employees must pass a background check.
  • All employees must be flexible to work on‑site as well as remotely, based on position and program requirements.
  • Prospect has a comprehensive onboarding program and supports professional development goals.
