Community-Focused Settlement Counsellor

Position: Community-Focused Settlement Counsellor Role
Support newcomers as a Settlement Counsellor with Catholic Social Services in Edmonton, Alberta. This full-time position focuses on culturally sensitive client care and housing services for refugees.

In the role of Settlement Counsellor, you will play an essential part in the Resettlement Assistance Program, providing strategic support to Government-Assisted Refugees. Your work will include welcoming clients, helping them identify their needs, and assisting with transitioning into permanent housing. This position requires a flexible approach to working hours to accommodate the diverse needs of clients during their resettlement journey.

Key Responsibilities:

• Greet and orient clients at the Reception House

• Facilitate access to healthcare and community services

• Develop personalized service plans based on client needs

• Drive clients to appointments and assist with documentation

• Participate in program meetings for continuous improvement

Requirements:

• Degree in a related field like Social Work

• Experience with refugees or cross-cultural environments

• Arabic language proficiency essential

• Strong interpersonal skills and organizational abilities

• Recent police background check required
