Roots and Wings workers support families to improve overall functioning, working with caregivers to create healthy family environments.
You will support caregivers to increase their parental capacity, resilience, and natural connections; viewing families that you are working with as having the potential for success.
You will also play a role in the community by enhancing connections to resources and encouraging families to positively engage within their community. Facilitate capacity building activities based on the needs of the community, such as: presentations, community events, etc. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to meet the needs of the community, through activities such as: partnering with organizations to provide programming in community spaces, participating in community conversations, etc.
Positively influence brain development by focusing on attachment, literacy, culturally sensitive play, and nutrition Educate caregivers on how adverse childhood experiences, toxic stress, and trauma affect parenting and child development Assist caregivers with developing an interest in and establishing a process to engage in their child’s learning at school (homework time, school attendance, etc.) Build connections between school and caregivers What you will bring to the role:
Degree in Child & Youth Care, Social Work (or) Degree in Human Services (Psychology, Sociology, Education, Human Ecology or Early Childhood Development) with experience in the field (or) Diploma in Child & Youth Care or Social Work with related experience Proficient communication, caseload management, and facilitation skills Experience working with diverse populations Background Check Process & Requirements:
As a part of the selection process, The Family Centre will conduct reference checks with your most recent employers Police Information Check
-Vulnerable Sector (completed within the last 6 months) Child Intervention Record Check (completed within the last 6 months) Registration with a professional body, if eligible (such as RSW) $2 million vehicle liability insurance Reliable vehicle, available for regular use and a valid driver’s license 5-year driver abstract (renewed every 3 years) Our Children Are Sacred Youth Suicide Prevention Training or ASIST Suicide Intervention Training within 3 months of start date Standard First Aid Level C CPR within 3 months of start date What you can expect:
