Webistry is a growth and performance marketing agency based in Montreal. We combine paid media, creative, CRO and experimentation with deep web design and development expertise.

Web is a major part of what we do. Our team designs, builds and continuously improves websites, landing pages and digital experiences for brands of all sizes, with a strong focus on performance, conversion and measurable growth.

We’re looking for a senior Word Press and Shopify developer who is equally comfortable building

websites and leading client relationships.

You’ll own a portfolio of ongoing clients, acting as both their technical lead and primary point of contact. You’ll understand what they need, recommend solutions, scope and estimate the work, communicate directly with them, and execute much of the development yourself.

This is not a role where requirements are always neatly packaged into tickets for you. We expect you to understand the client’s goals, ask the right questions, identify what needs to happen and move the work forward.

As a senior hire, you’ll be expected to contribute quickly. You should be comfortable stepping into existing Word Press and Shopify codebases, understanding how they’re built, troubleshooting issues and delivering production work without a lengthy ramp-up period.

• Build, maintain and improve Word Press and Shopify websites.
• Develop custom Word Press themes, functionality and integrations.
• Develop Shopify themes, sections, Liquid functionality and app integrations.
• Lead client calls and act as the day-to-day technical contact for your accounts.
• Translate client requests into technical requirements, scopes and estimates.
• Plan and prioritize work across your retainers and keep clients informed along the way.
• Identify opportunities to improve performance, UX, conversion, SEO and overall site quality.
• Coordinate with designers, developers and other specialists when additional support is needed.
• Take ownership of delivery, QA and the overall technical health of the accounts you manage.

AI is part of how we work, and we expect senior developers to be highly proficient with modern AI-assisted development tools.

You should be comfortable using tools such as Claude, Codex, Cursor or similar tools to accelerate development, understand unfamiliar codebases, troubleshoot issues, improve QA and increase your overall output.

We’re not looking for someone who relies on AI to replace technical fundamentals. We’re looking for a strong developer who knows how to use AI effectively.

• 5+ years of professional web development experience.
• Strong Word Press development experience, including PHP, custom themes, ACF and plugin troubleshooting.
• Strong Shopify development experience, including Liquid, Online Store 2.0, metafields and app integrations.
• Comfortable working in and understanding existing codebases.
• Proficient with AI-assisted development tools and workflows.
• Experience working directly with clients and leading technical conversations.
• Strong scoping and estimation skills.
• Ability to explain technical decisions clearly to non-technical clients.
• Strong organization across multiple clients and priorities.
• A high level of autonomy and ownership.
• Ultimately, we’re looking for someone who can own the client and own the code — someone who can join a call, understand the problem, recommend the right approach and then execute it.
