Role:
Dispatcher (Temporary Contract)Location:

Hourly Rate: $25–$30/hour (based on experience)
Contract Length: 1-month contract, reassessed thereafter based on business needs
Hours:
Monday to Friday, mid-shift (10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.) - Flexibility required

Position Summary
The Dispatcher is responsible for supporting and monitoring all on-road driver activities during the assigned shift. This role includes assigning routes and loads, tracking driver progress, ensuring on-time deliveries, and responding to unexpected challenges such as traffic delays or weather disruptions. The Dispatcher maintains strong communication with drivers, customers, and internal teams to support efficient trucking and logistics operations during a busy period.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as a point of contact for driver inquiries, providing tools and information such as trip sheets, access codes, trip numbers, and tractor keys
Monitor and track driver activity using transportation management systems
Support senior planners and account coordinators by completing daily add-ons as required
Ensure trip sheets and live updates are accurately completed and maintained
Progress trips as needed and resolve issues in real time
Perform evening customer service responsibilities by responding promptly to customer requests
Required Experience & Qualifications
Minimum 1–2 years of dispatch experience within the transportation or trucking industry
Ability to work independently and contribute immediately during peak season
High school diploma
Experience with transportation or dispatch software
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Exceptional attention to detail
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Flexibility to work varying shifts and overtime when required
Strong knowledge of Edmonton routes, traffic patterns, and surrounding areas
Ability to handle high call volumes in a busy dispatch environment
Quick learner with a proactive, solutions-focused approach
Experience with a large carrier or high-volume transportation operation is an asset
