Experience:
1 year to less than 2 years. Work setting:
Various locations.
- Load and unload goods
- Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
- Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment
- Perform emergency roadside repairs
- Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle
- Perform preventive maintenance
- Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo
- Driver's License (Class 1 or
A) - Documentation knowledge (accident or incident reports, bill of lading, driver logbook, inspection report, maintenance and repair reports)
- Type of trucking and equipment:
Dump truck, Flatbed, Tractor-trailer - Communication systems experience (CB radio)
- Transportation/travel experience (local short-haul)
- Willing to travel for extended periods
- Large workload, physically demanding, repetitive tasks, sitting
- Weight handling: up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
