In this highly collaborative role, you will lead the development and implementation of transportation plans, policies, programs, and infrastructure initiatives that support a safe, connected, and accessible transportation network for people of all ages and abilities. Working closely with internal departments, community organizations, residents, consultants, government agencies, and Council, you will help shape transportation priorities that enhance mobility, improve accessibility, and foster vibrant, inclusive communities.

Key Responsibilities Lead the development and implementation of Active Transportation / Vulnerable Road User Strategy based on the actions identified by the Active Transportation and Traffic Safety Task Force and aligned with County priorities
Develop, update, and manage plans, policies, and bylaws in collaboration with internal and external partners
Assist with budget planning and tracking as needed, ensuring alignment with program objectives
Identify, pursue, and administer grant funding from provincial, federal, and private sources to support active transportation initiatives
Monitor best practices and research to inform planning and policy updates
Ensure active transportation initiatives align with County traffic safety policies and approved plans
Provide technical expertise and respond to public inquiries regarding active transportation planning, mobility programs, and traffic safety initiatives
Lead transportation-related consultation and public engagement projects, including procurement and oversight of external consultants
Support the planning, implementation, and evaluation of transportation infrastructure projects and mobility programs
Review designs, reports, and infrastructure plans for safety, accessibility, and policy compliance; conduct site visits and inspections
Maintain data, monitor performance, and evaluate program effectiveness to support continuous improvement and strategic planning
Build and maintain strong relationships with community groups, government agencies, and key stakeholders, collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including internal teams, community groups, and government agencies
Lead public education and engagement efforts to increase awareness and encourage safe active transportation behaviours
Champion innovative approaches that support transportation network planning, multimodal mobility, and community connectivity
Qualifications and Skills Post-secondary degree in Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, Engineering, Public Policy, Community Planning, or a related field with five (5) years of relevant experience; or a diploma in a related field with seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience. Relevant experience may include municipal transportation planning, mobility planning, traffic safety, infrastructure planning, or policy development
A degree in Planning, Transportation Engineering, Public Policy, or a related discipline with a focus on mobility, transportation systems, or sustainability is considered an asset
Demonstrated experience in transportation planning, transportation policy development, mobility planning, transportation infrastructure projects, traffic safety initiatives, or multimodal transportation systems
