Environment Technician

Responsibilities

• Ensures technicians follow all safety procedures appropriately
• Assists in scheduling the Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP) activities in the environmental database
• Conducts environmental sampling to meet EMP requirements
• Assists in applying for a permit for all drilling, land clearing, etc., projects as required; track issuance and close out of permits
• Assists in maintaining comprehensive master files of all environmental data and operational records
• Assists in the compilation and evaluation of data, including preparation and submission of internal and regulatory reports
• Assists the Environmental Supervisor with special projects
• Assists with developing and delivering environmental training
• Oversees equipment calibration and maintenance in the Environment Group
• Assists in operating the hazardous waste lay down and waste disposal facilities
• Prepares and submits reports
• Assists the Environmental Supervisor in issuance, investigation, and follow-up of environmental non-conformances

• An Environmental Technician Diploma or equivalent work experience
• Valid Class 5 or Class 5 Northern Restricted drivers license is required
• Several years of environmental experience in the mining field (preferably uranium) is an asset
• Training in sampling techniques, equipment operation, and calibration
• Must have good writing skills, as well as experience using databases, Word, Excel, and Power Point

• 14 day in/ 14 day out rotating schedule
• Normally an 11 hour work day, although some activity outside of normal working hours may be required
• Must be physically fit (must be capable of sustained physical activity including: walking, climbing, and lifting)
• Experience operating snow machines, boats, and all-terrain vehicles is an asset
• Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
