We seek a passionate candidate who believes in crypto and blockchain technology to update the financial system. The role involves managing a small team (3-6 ICs), providing technical leadership, and designing, building, and executing core derivatives trading solutions.

The Derivatives team within the Institutional Product Group has built an end-to-end platform for Futures trading (FCM) at Coinbase, launched in 2023, with significant market adoption. Responsibilities include trade execution, risk management, and settlement.

Key responsibilities include:

• Writing high-quality, well-tested code to meet customer needs and uplift the technical bar
• Architecting and developing the derivatives platform responsible for trade execution and risk management
• Providing thoughtful technical guidance and fostering a culture of operational excellence
• Collaborating with Product and Engineering teams for successful delivery of distributed systems
• Coaching direct reports to impact the organization and support career growth

Qualifications:

• 7+ years in software engineering
• Experience architecting solutions to ambiguous problems with impact
• Building, scaling, and maintaining high-volume, low-latency services
• Passion for building an open financial system

Nice to have:

• Engineering management experience
• Experience with order management or risk engines
• Rapid growth experience from startup to mid-size
• Familiarity with Golang, Docker, AWS, Postgres, Mongo

• Crypto-related experience, including onchain activity, ENS, dApps, or blockchain services
