Field Operator – Edson District

The Field Operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation, care, and control of Canlin production assets. The field operator will be responsible for all aspects of gas and oilfield operations in a safe and effective manner, including operating sour gas wells, field compression, pipeline pigging, plunger lift systems, monitoring chemical rates, all contributing to a safe working environment for Canlin.

This is a full-time, unionized position with Canlin Energy Corporation, primarily Edson South assets, with occasional support across the broader Edson district. The role includes camp accommodation, operates on a 7-on, 7-off shift schedule (subject to change) requiring on-call availability, and reports directly to the Edson South Production Foreman. This role is covered under the collective agreement between Canlin Energy and Unifor Local 508-A.

Edson, AB Key Accountabilities
  • Asset Control:
    Safe operation and care of gas and oilfield production assets.
  • Core Operations:
    Day-to-day operation and monitoring of wells, pipelines, and compressor stations.
  • Technical Tasks:
    Operating sour gas wells, field compression, pipeline pigging, and plunger lift systems.
  • Optimization:
    Monitoring chemical rates and ensuring equipment meets throughput requirements.
  • Data Management:
    Utilizing OpLynx for accurate daily equipment logs and electronic reporting.
  • Collaboration:

    Working with the Production Coordinator and the Integrated Remote Operations Center (IROC).
Qualifications & Competencies
  • High school diploma
  • Trades or Technical Certification is considered a strong asset
  • Valid certification in H2S Alive, First Aid, WHMIS, and TDG
  • Possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean drivers abstract
  • Comfortable working directly in a sour gas processing environment and facilities
  • Upstream gas processing and gathering system optimization experience is an asset
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills with an ability to shift priorities and complete tasks dynamically
  • Ability to motivate others in a high-performing, fast-paced work environment
  • Takes initiative to create positive change and brings forward new ideas
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, navigate stairs/ladders, and work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to shift priorities and focus to complete tasks in a timely manner
