About The Role:
In the role of Senior Accountant at Utilitra, you lead major accounting initiatives and have a significant impact on our financial strategies and operations. This senior position is suited for experienced accounting professionals who have demonstrated expertise in financial management across a range of functions, including complex reconciliations and strategic reporting. You will mentor junior staff, oversee critical accounting projects, and provide expert advice to management.
Your work ensures that financial practices align with organizational goals and comply with regulatory standards, positioning you as a key player in shaping the financial landscape of the company.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Work with project accountants, controllers, and various operations personnel.
- Assist with WIP completion and review WIP for other Project Accountants. Able to answer all WIP-related questions from the Controller group.
- Compile monthly and quarterly financial reports.
- Able to handle most project-related questions for Project Accountants and Jr. Project Accountants.
- Communicates project-related issues or more complicated questions to the Division Controller.
- Assist Sr. Project Accountants with process improvements and creating or updating written standard processes and training manuals.
- Must have an excellent working knowledge of all project accounting. Able to assist where needed for vacations and absences.
- Attend monthly WIP and accounting meetings.
- Responsible for training and mentoring.
- Assist with annual audit information.
- Other projects or duties as assigned or prudent.
- Cross‑train in all facets of Accounting, preparing to fill in for anyone absent and to grow in responsibility and scope over time.
Requirements/
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting.
- Five or more years of related experience.
- Must be able to manage project financial data for multiple projects.
- Must be able to work independently and take the initiative to resolve project financial issues promptly.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines, manage assigned workload, and deliver accurate and timely results with an attitude and commitment to participating actively in meetings.
- Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
- Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and strong analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Reasoning and problem‑solving ability.
Physical Requirements:
- Extensive reading of written figures and words, typed reports, and computer screens.
- Data entry up to six (6) hours per day.
- Phone communication approximately one (1) hour per day.
- Sitting for prolonged periods in meetings can be four (4) or more hours each day.
- Communicating verbally with other staff, contractors, vendors, and customers continually.
- Occasional lifting up to 10 pounds.
- Occasional stooping, reaching or bending.
