Overview

The Assistant Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life is responsible for the overall supervision, management, development, and strategic direction of the Fraternity and Sorority Life program including advising, developing, organizing, monitoring, and assessing 21 (inter) n national fraternities and sororities and four (4) governing councils, totaling over 600 students.

What

You Will Do
  • Supervise, manage, develop, and provide strategic direction for the Fraternity and Sorority Life program, including advising, organizing, monitoring, and assessing 21 (inter) national fraternities and sororities and four governing councils totaling over 600 students.
  • Serve as the official University advisor to two governing councils (Interfraternity Council & National Pan‑Hellenic Council) and Order of Omega by attending weekly meetings and providing guidance on governance, while actively supporting and supervising the advisors of the remaining two councils.
  • Plan, execute, and assess programs such as Panhellenic Sorority Recruitment, IFC Fraternity Recruitment, NPHC/UGC Membership Intake programs, Chapter Coaching and Leadership Training, Educational Programming, and chapter/council recognition like accreditation or awards.
  • Oversee community risk management and prevention education initiatives, including Anti‑Hazing efforts.
  • Supervise a Coordinator of Fraternity and Sorority Life supporting fraternity and sorority life engagement.
  • Manage communication strategies for prospective students, current students, families, advisors, alumni, international headquarters, and more about Fraternity and Sorority Life at SIUE.
  • Support the department's mission, vision, and goals through additional related duties as assigned.

FLSA: Exempt

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • A total of one (1) year (12 months) in education, training and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position.
    • (

      Note:

      Master's Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.)
  • AND

    • One additional year full-time experience working in Student Affairs and/or Fraternity and Sorority Life
    • Membership in a (inter) national fraternity or sorority
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Master's degree in student affairs, college student personnel, higher education, counseling, or other related field.
    • Extensive and progressive experience and knowledge of fraternity and sorority life is preferred.
