Description

The SIUE School of Nursing is accepting resume packages for full‑time, non‑tenure, academic year term instructor appointments for the 2025‑2026 academic year. As a full‑time faculty member there is an expectation to demonstrate competent teaching across the curriculum, including didactic, clinical, and online settings, in our graduate and/or undergraduate programs. Full‑time faculty are expected to maintain a program of scholarship relevant to the practice of nursing, the nursing profession, and/or the education of nurses, and to engage in service to the School of Nursing and other constituencies relevant to the mission of the organization.

  • Teach classroom/clinical/simulation lab per university workload guidelines, normally four courses not to exceed 12 hours per semester.
  • Develop course requirements, assignments, and syllabus guidelines in collaboration with course leaders.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods (including simulation) to engage students in active learning strategies appropriate to student level and course objectives.
  • Use classroom assessments to evaluate student learning: examinations, quizzes, papers, homework, or in‑class assignments, and other assessments.
  • Confer with students and maintain open lines of communication in person, via electronic mail, or as agreed upon with students.
  • Provide direct/indirect clinical supervision to assigned student learning needs and course objectives.
  • Make clinical patient assignments in accordance with student learning needs and course objectives.
  • Supervise clinical performance, grade clinical papers and assignments, and provide students with performance feedback and evaluations.
  • Record and submit student grades according to university policy.
  • Develop skills in managing software programs to support student learning in classroom and simulation lab settings.
  • Full‑time faculty shall serve on at least one Standing Committee of the School of Nursing.
  • May be appointed to ad hoc committees of the School of Nursing.

Qualifications
  • Master of Science in Nursing required (IDFPR regulation)
  • Two years’ experience in clinical nursing (IDFPR regulation)
  • Faculty must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a registered nurse in Illinois and Missouri.
  • Previous teaching experience in a baccalaureate nursing program preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal skills for interacting professionally and effectively with students, academic colleagues and agency staff.
  • Advance Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) must maintain certification in specialization in Illinois and Missouri and meet all educational requirements as specified by their respective accrediting body.
