What

You Will Do

Supports the Program Director in tracking and monitoring the maintenance and requests of all SIUE Head Start/Early Head Start managed centers using a tracking form and to provide a safe and healthy environment for children and staff in all Head Start grant program locations. Duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Coordinating Head Start facility leases
  • Managing vendor‑contracted work not managed by Facilities Management
  • Responding to health and safety of all Head Start center facilities according to the Head Start and Department of Children & Family Services regulations and requirements
  • Responding to emergencies at center locations and follows procedures and plans based on the emergency
  • Reviewing and co‑writing policies and procedures with the Program Director and Head Start Leadership Team for the Head Start program pertaining to health and safety of the environment at the centers
  • Requesting vehicle maintenance
  • Tracking and monitoring transportation and supply costs, i.e. reserving buses, purchasing supplies for the center, monitoring and tracking Head Start program equipment, property, vehicles and supplies, especially items on inventory, and completing and managing capital inventory reports per University procedures

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Any one or combination totaling three (3) years (36 months) from the categories below:
    • College coursework in facility management, operations management, or a closely related field, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent. 60 semester hours or an Associate’s Degree equals (1) year (12 months)
    • Training from a vocational, technical, or an armed forces program which includes building operations such as coordination of building maintenance, construction management, hospitality, or closely related experience
    • Work experience which includes building operations such as coordination of building maintenance and work orders, construction management, hospitality, or closely related experience
  • One (1) year (12 months) of supervisory or administrative experience which includes building operations such as coordination of building maintenance and work orders, construction management, hospitality, or closely related experience
