Edwardsville, IL Area | Full-Time | $37.01–$53.60/hour
Ameresco is looking for an experienced Electrician to join its Solar Operations & Maintenance team around the Edwardsville, Illinois area
, with the opportunity to work across solar projects in Illinois and potentially Missouri
.
This is a great opportunity for an electrician with industrial, commercial or utility-scale solar experience who enjoys hands‑on troubleshooting, maintenance and working with complex electrical equipment.
What you'll be doing- Inspect, troubleshoot, test, repair and maintain solar site equipment
- Work with solar panels, inverters, transformers, breakers, switch gear and SCADA systems
- Read and interpret blueprints, instruction manuals and control system drawings
- Diagnose electrical and electronic issues across solar facilities
- Complete work orders, maintenance records, calibration sheets and material requests
- Follow strict safety procedures and electrical safety standards
- Support the Lead Electrician with daily maintenance and site activities
- Supervise and train apprentice electricians and other team members
- Occasionally respond to after-hours and weekend call‑outs
- At least 2 years’ experience in industrial solar electrical/electronic maintenance, including repair, inspection, testing, installation or maintenance
- Strong understanding of AC/DC electrical systems, voltage and current
- Experience working with electrical equipment in an industrial, commercial or solar environment
- Valid driver's license
- High school diploma or equivalent experience
- Commercial or utility-scale solar O&M
- SCADA systems
- Inverters and transformers
- Switchgear and breakers
- OSHA training/certification
- Experience supervising or mentoring apprentices
Actual compensation will depend on experience, skills, education, certifications and location.
Location: Edwardsville, IL area
Coverage: Illinois and potentially Missouri
Employment: Full-time
