Material Handler - 2nd Shift

Material Handler – 2nd Shift at Specialty Building Products (Amerhart), Edwardsville, IL.

Hours:

4:00 pm – midnight (CST).

Hourly pay: $22.00/hour + $1.00 shift differential.

• Unload common carrier trucks and railcars and replenish product in designated warehouse locations.
• Pick orders using a forklift until orders are fully filled; report shortages or damaged material and coordinate with the sales team for order changes.
• Use a handheld scanner for receiving, picking, loading, and cycle counting in accordance with Warehouse Management System (WMS) processes.
• Collaborate with the WMS Coordinator on questions and updates.
• Band, wrap, and prepare material for safe shipping.
• Arrange orders on trucks according to safe weight distribution practices.
• Adhere to safety procedures and policies when performing warehouse duties.

• Fill orders for incoming customers.
• Perform routine maintenance work such as cleaning warehouses and yard areas.
• Inspect the forklift prior to daily operation to prevent equipment problems and malfunctions, in accordance with OSHA regulations.
• Cross‑train and back up other warehouse personnel.

• Strong initiative and self‑starter with a continuous‑improvement mindset.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a cross‑functional team environment.
• Working knowledge and techniques for organizing and setting priorities.

• High School Diploma.
• 1–2 years of warehouse experience, including some experience with flat‑bed loading and unloading.
• Neat and clean appearance.
• Proven ability to work as a member of a team.
• Preferred:
  Sit‑down forklift experience.
