PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

The Grain Merchandiser is responsible for assisting with logistical operations, assisting in implementing the policies and programs, and ensuring the growth and profitability of the Grain Department, all while accepting responsibilities in the overall merchandising of grain.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Assists with facility operations of all grain locations by developing, implementing and communicating grain-marketing programs.
• Collaborates in the management and planning of all logistics for all TGM facilities.
• Manages the oversight of rail invoicing.
• Works with the grain division manager to enhance and lead the merchandising effort.
• Coordinates shipments from facilities and off farm with logistics personnel, merchandisers, and locations’ staff.
• Negotiates with brokers, millers, truckers, terminals, etc. in order to establish cash grain bids and sales prices.
• Ensures the maximum utilization and efficiency of storage and grain handling equipment.
• Assists in being responsible for the grade, condition and quantity of all Grain under company ownership.
• Assists in implementing safety and safety programs into a part of everyday activities.
• Promote teamwork between all TGM locations and employees.
• Will assist in seeking new business in authorized trade territory.
• Successfully adhere to company policies and procedures.
• Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
• Planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
• May be required to assist in the direction and training of all facility managers, origination specialists, and administrative personnel to maximize company efficiency while maintaining an acceptable level of customer service.
• Develops relationships with various trade associations.
• Assist in interpreting marketing reports, technical information and other market data to effectively disseminate information & make recommendations to customers.
• Communicates professionally and provides optimal customer service.
• Utilizes technology and proprietary software to enhance business processes.
• Acquire and maintain any certifications and licenses that may be required. Series III Commodity Brokers License is typically required.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
• Must have the ability to travel independently and overnight when necessary.
• Ability to work extended hours as business conditions warrant.
• Attends all required meetings and training programs.
• Successfully adhere to safety rules and company policies and procedures. EHS, OSHA, EPA and DOT policies and procedures must be adhered to at all times.
• All other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

Normally requires a bachelor’s degree in Ag Economics, Ag Marketing or Agri-Business or similar field and two or more years of experience in marketing and/or commodity trading, or a combination of equivalent education & experience to demonstrate knowledge of marketing leadership.
