The Housekeeper Aide provides cleaning services to maintain a safe, sanitary, comfortable and homelike environment for residents, staff, and the public. Housekeeping services are carried out in accordance with facility policies, procedures, and applicable state and federal regulations to enhance the quality of life for residents.

The Housekeeper Aide performs daily cleaning of assigned resident rooms, bathrooms, and common areas while respecting resident privacy and preferences. Duties include dusting, mopping, sanitizing, and scrubbing, as well as cleaning walls, ceilings, windows, mirrors, and floors. The aide ensures housekeeping supplies are secured and disposes of all waste, including biohazardous materials, following facility policies.

• Cleans assigned resident rooms, bathrooms, and common areas daily according to facility procedures, respecting residents’ privacy and preferences.
• Cleans walls, ceilings, windows, mirrors, and waxed floors as per cleaning schedules.
• Takes appropriate actions to secure housekeeping supplies out of reach of residents at all times.
• Disposes of trash and waste, including biohazardous waste, only in accordance with facility policies.
• Posts signs indicating safety hazards whenever housekeeping activities pose risks.
• Uses personal protective equipment (PPE) when at risk of exposure to blood or other hazardous body fluids.
• Complies with safety instructions when using chemicals, referring to labels and Material Safety Data Sheets, and seeking supervisor assistance when uncertain.
• Monitors and reports rodent or pest evidence to supervisor.
• Communicates with the Maintenance Director regarding preparation for state inspections, attending training, and interacting with state surveyors only as instructed.
• Reports injuries to self or others immediately to supervisor.
• Attends in‑service education programs as assigned and applies knowledge to job tasks.
• Monitors workplace for safety and fire hazards, correcting or reporting potential problems.
• Participates in emergency and disaster drills, carrying out assigned duties to ensure resident safety.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

• Experience working in a healthcare environment in Environmental Services preferred.
• Friendly attitude and excellent communication skills required.
• Must be able to express self adequately in written and oral communication and to communicate effectively in an interdisciplinary care setting with residents, families, and staff members.
