Quality Assurance Specialist - Effingham, IL Job Summary

The Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for overseeing the completion of quality checks and verifications, ensuring product parameters are maintained on the production floor. The role supports the Quality Manager in making quality decisions, investigating non-conforming product, and completing monitoring activities safely. This position reports to the location Quality Manager.

• Oversee completion of quality checks and verifications, ensuring product parameters are maintained on the production floor.
• Support the Quality Manager in making quality decisions, investigating non-conforming product, and completing monitoring activities safely.
• Take over tasks assigned to Quality Technicians and cover as needed.
• Cover tasks assigned to the Quality Manager and cover as needed, including formal release, verification tasks, and ensuring proper sampling procedures.
• Assist in developing personnel, identifying food safety and/or product integrity issues, initiating and recording corrective actions.
• Assist with monthly Food Safety Training.
• Train new Quality Technicians to ensure they are adequately trained for on-the-job tasks and have a full understanding of job-related responsibilities.
• Order supplies as required.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in food science or related field preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in quality or manufacturing preferred.
• Training required:
  • Annual Training
  • HACCP / PC Training
  • PCQI Training
  • GFSI Training
  • Food Safety and Sanitation Training
• Knowledge of FDA and State Regulatory Requirements.
• Team Player.
• Decisive and results oriented.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to lead and coach.
• Strong analytical problem solving/root cause analysis skills.
• Highly organized.
• Effective use of Microsoft Office applications.
