Job PurposeThe Working Foreman discusses vehicle problems with customers, diagnoses repairs through preliminary test drives, and delegates necessary work assignments to technicians based on their abilities and knowledge.
Responsibilities- Discuss vehicle problems with customers and diagnose repairs via preliminary test drives.
- Supervise maintenance and repair work, ensuring efficiency and quality.
- Maintain positive customer relations and uphold company values.
- Enforce safety policies in the shop area.
- Participate in learning opportunities and share knowledge with technicians.
- Guide technicians, facilitate continuous learning, and improve repair methods.
- Diagnose repairs using innovative techniques; perform preventive maintenance and repairs while supervising.
- Delegate work assignments to technicians, use resources effectively, and manage waste materials.
- Fill in for Service Advisor as needed and ensure all repaired vehicles are test‑driven.
- Adapt to evolving organizational needs and undertake additional responsibilities.
- High school diploma or equivalent; trade school training preferred.
- 5 to 7 years of related experience in truck service operations.
- Mechanical and refinishing knowledge.
- Valid driver’s license; CDL required or ability to obtain.
- Dependable attendance.
- Stand and walk continuously; lift and carry up to 20 lbs and up to 75–100 lbs for various tasks.
- Perform tasks near moving mechanical equipment, handle air tools, hand tools, and use PPE.
- Work in areas with fumes, vibration, and chemicals; maintain vision and fine manipulation.
- Read, analyze, and write reports; present information to managers and staff.
- Apply basic math concepts to practical situations.
- Solve practical problems with limited standardization and interpret written instructions.
- Normal shop conditions with frequent loud noise.
