Registered Nurse - Endoscopy Unit - Part Time

POSITION SUMMARY

The Registered Nurse is a member of the interdisciplinary team working in collaboration with the Physician. The Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing care process consistent with their license and/or certification, including initiation of culturally competent continuum of care in inpatient, outpatient and community settings. The Registered Nurse is responsible for overseeing any necessary coordination of the interdisciplinary plan of care and ensuring consistency with the medical treatment plan.

• Assessment – Identify and organize subjective and objective data pertaining to the patient/family/significant other, including physical, psychosocial, spiritual and cultural aspects.
• Planning – Identify actual or potential problems and desired outcomes (goals) that result in a documented plan of care, providing direction for the patient/family/significant other and interdisciplinary team.
• Intervention – Implement specific interventions or orders consistent with the plan of care and medical treatment plan.
• Evaluation – Determine the effectiveness of interventions in achieving the plan of care, initiating reassessment and revisions as needed, and documenting required actions.
• Patient care activities are administered according to standards, procedural guidelines and organizational policy.
• Support performance improvement initiatives, provide leadership to team members, and participate in educational activities for continued professional growth.

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey or a current multi‑state license required.
• BLS required.
• Valid NJ Driver’s License is required for all employees in the Adult and Child Partial Programs.

• 2 years medical/surgical experience preferred (various units).
• ACLS required within 6 months of hire or transfer.
• PALS required within 6 months of hire or transfer (various units).
• ATCN required within 3 years of hire or transfer (various units).

Demonstrates the ability to perform the department specific competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.

• Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, blood‑borne pathogens and hazardous substances.
• Extensive standing and walking, including stairs.
• Frequent lifting of approximately 25‑50 pounds, and occasional lifting of 50‑100 pounds with assistance.
• Pushing and pulling of heavy equipment.
