HOSPITAL PHARMACIST - PER DIEM

The hospital Pharmacist ensures accurate and timely distribution of medications and other pharmaceutical supplies according to established procedures and standards, in support of high quality patient care. The Pharmacist interprets, evaluates and verifies medication orders accurately assessing for drug‑drug, drug‑allergy and drug‑disease state interactions.
The Pharmacist provides drug information to clinicians and patients and maintains accurate, complete records on all patient profiles and controlled drug substances as required by law. They properly manage pharmaceutical inventories, maintain emergency drug supplies, automated dispensing machines and medication security on nursing units, and direct and verify the Pharmacy Technician’s work. Pharmacists maintain competency and participate in clinical programs such as Anticoagulation Management, Pharmacokinetic Monitoring, Adverse Drug Event Monitoring, patient care rounding, pharmacotherapy optimization, and general medication safety.

EducationDoctor of Pharmacy or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree
License/CertificationCurrent New Jersey State license as a Registered Pharmacist required. ACLS preferred, CPR preferred for Hospital Pharmacist.
ExperienceTwo years experience preferred; two years hospital experience preferred for Hospital Pharmacist. Demonstrates an in-depth understanding of work processes. Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within the position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be assessed and evaluated within 90 days from date of hire.
Work EnvironmentPotential exposure to hazards and risks of the hospital environment, including infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury. Requires the ability to stand approximately 60% of the time and occasional reaching.
Reporting RelationshipHospital Pharmacists report to the Director of Pharmacy Operations and provide direction to the Pharmacy Technician. Outpatient Pharmacists report to the Director of Outpatient Pharmacy and Business Development and provide direction to the Pharmacy Technician.
