Registered Nurse - Cardiovascular Operating Room

The Registered Nurse is a member of the interdisciplinary team working in collaboration with the Physician. The Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing care process consistent with their license and/or certification including initiation of culturally competent continuum of care including inpatient, outpatient and community settings. The Cardiac Operating Room Registered Nurse is responsible to oversee any necessary coordination of the interdisciplinary surgical plan of care and provides for its consistency with the surgical treatment plan.

• Education/License: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred. Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey or current multi-state license required. BLS required. Valid NJ Driver's License is required for all employees in the Adult and Child Partial Programs.
• Experience: Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.
• Specialty / Experience / Advanced Certification Required / Certification / Preferred:

• Emergency Room – City – 2-4 years medical/surgical experience preferred; 2 years emergency room experience preferred.
• ACLS required within 6 months of initial assignment and continuously maintained thereafter. All registered professional nurses after 24 months of initial assignment will have completion of ATCN or TNCC. Minimum of 8 contact hours of education every 1 year in basic trauma assessment, intervention and stabilization; PALS or ENPC, with provider status attained within 12 months of initial assignment and continuously maintained thereafter.
  
  Minimum of 8 contact hours of education every 1 year in basic stroke assessment, intervention and NIHSS to be completed by 6 months of hire and continuously maintained thereafter.
• Labor and Delivery – 2-4 years labor and delivery experience preferred – ACLS required within 6mo of hire or transfer. NRP (NALS) required within 1 year from date of hire or transfer.
• Neonatal Intensive Care Unit/Intermediate Care Unit – 2-4 years neonatal ICU experience preferred – NRP (NALS) required within 1 year from date of hire or transfer.
• Mother/Baby Unit (OB) – 2-4 years mother/baby experience preferred – NRP (NALS) required within 1 year from date of hire or transfer.
• Perinatology – 3 years labor and delivery experience preferred – OB certification required.
• Operating Room – Minimum 1 year medical/surgical experience desired; 1-2 years operating room experience preferred – CNOR preferred – ACLS preferred.
• Cardiac Operating Room – Minimum of 1 year surgical experience; 6 months of cardiac operating room preferred – CNOR preferred – ACLS preferred.
• Critical Care (ICU) – 2-4 years medical/surgical experience preferred; 1-2 years critical care experience preferred – ACLS required within 1 year from date of hire or transfer – CCRN preferred.
• Medical/Surgical – 3 Pines/3 Central – 1-2 years medical/surgical experience preferred – Effective February 18th 2020, ACLS is required for all currently hired employees on 3 Pines. Current Incumbents are required ACLS by December 31st 2021. Incumbents hired after December 31st, 2021 will have 6 mos from date of hire or transfer to obtain ACLS.
• Dialysis – (renal, acute) – 1-2 years medical/surgical experience preferred; 1-2 years dialysis experience preferred – ACLS required within one year of date of hire or transfer.
• Psychiatry – (1 West 1 Pines) – PIP if not a screener – 1-2 years medical/surgical experience preferred; 1-2 years psychiatry experience preferred. Annual education required within 6 months from date of hire or transfer (Crisis Prevention; Intervention).
