Mid-level Documentation and Security Specialist
ASRC Federal, a leading government contractor and Alaska Native owned corporation, is seeking a full‑time, 100% on‑site Mid‑level Documentation and Security Specialist to join our Terminal Flight Data Manager (TFDM) team supporting the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The position is located at the William J. Hughes Technical Center in Egg Harbor Township, NJ.
Key Responsibilities- Provide second‑level engineering support for TFDM and conduct analysis and field support.
- Modernize air traffic control tower equipment and streamline surface traffic to save fuel and reduce CO₂ emissions.
- Optimize collaboration between gate and tower by improving decision‑making capabilities.
- Create, maintain, and update comprehensive documentation, including System Design Documents (SDDs), Interface Control Documents (ICDs), User Manuals, System Maintenance Guides, and documentation templates and style guides.
- Produce training materials and quick‑reference guides for TFDM users, covering cybersecurity best practices and secure operational procedures.
- Develop site‑specific documentation such as Site Implementation Plans, Cutover Checklists, and Acceptance Test Reports.
- Compile security documents required for FAA Authority to Operate (ATO), including the System Security Plan (SSP), Risk Assessment Reports, and Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M).
- Log security patches, updates, and system hardening activities.
- Coordinate with FAA cybersecurity teams to ensure TFDM systems comply with NIST 800‑53, FISMA, and other federal security standards.
- Liaise with program management, cybersecurity teams, and operational users for all documentation and security‑related matters.
- Support security audits and prepare documentation for internal FAA teams or external agencies, including planning and documenting security assessments, penetration tests, and vulnerability scans.
- Track and document identified vulnerabilities, ensuring remediation or documented risk acceptance; record test results and coordinate with system engineers to close security gaps.
- Enforce document classification, encryption, and storage protocols.
- Recommend improvements to security documentation workflows, including automation tools and version tracking systems.
- Citizenship: US Citizen, Green Card holder, or non‑immigrant work authorization (visa). Must have resided in the US for three consecutive years. Company cannot sponsor.
- Relocation:
Must reside or be willing to relocate within commutable distance to Egg Harbor Township, NJ. - Education:
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours in mathematics, statistics, and computer science and seven (7) years of related work experience; OR
- Master’s Degree in any field with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours of undergraduate or graduate study in mathematics, statistics, and computer science and five (5) years of related work experience.
- Experience:
Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in a computer science, mathematics, or related field (Bachelor) or five (5) years (Master). Must be able to provide second‑level engineering support and security documentation. - Security Clearance:
Must obtain and maintain FAA Public Trust security clearance and maintain compliance with the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA). - Technical skills:
Strong technical writing, documentation generation, and data entry; familiarity with FAA standards and security processes.
