Description POSITION SUMMARY

The Registered Nurse is a member of the interdisciplinary team working in collaboration with the Physician. The Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing care process consistent with their license and/or certification including initiation of culturally competent continuum of care including inpatient, outpatient and community settings. The Registered Nurse is responsible to oversee any necessary coordination of the interdisciplinary plan of care and provides for its consistency with the medical treatment plan.

Patient

Care Process
  • Assessment – identification, gathering and organization of subjective and objective data pertaining to the patient/family/significant other, including physical, psychosocial, spiritual and cultural.
  • Planning – identification of actual or potential problems and desired outcomes (goals) that result in a documented plan of care.
  • Intervention – specific interventions or orders that are implemented consistent with the plan of care and medical treatment plan.
  • Evaluation – determination of the effectiveness of the interventions in achieving the plan of care and determination of the conclusions concerning the achievement or lack of achievement of desired outcomes.
  • Patient prioritization – problems identified and prioritized relative to biophysical, psychological, environmental, self‑care, educational and social status.
  • Goal setting – goals identified consistent with the problem to provide direction for patient care and health promotion.
  • Education – consistent with the identified problem and associated goals and is seen as critical to creating an environment that promotes patient empowerment.

Employee may be required to perform Limited Laboratory Services to include patient identification and preparation for specimen collection, processing samples for testing, performing required quality control testing, instrument maintenance, function checks, monitoring, recording and reporting test results to clinicians to include critical values, and maintaining competency/certification of the aforementioned tasks and duties.

Licensed and registered care providers responsible for utilizing the care process relative to their scope of practice and knowledge base may document the assessment, plan, intervention and evaluation. All patient care activities are administered according to standards, procedural guidelines and organizational policy.

The Registered Nurse actively supports performance improvement initiatives and provides leadership to other members of the patient care team. By participating in educational activities, the Registered Nurse assumes responsibility for continued professional and personal growth.

Emergency Room
  • 2 years medical/surgical and/or emergency room experience preferred.
  • ACLS required within 6 months of hire or transfer.
  • Minimum of 8 contact hours of education every year in basic trauma assessment, intervention and stabilization.
  • Minimum of 8 contact hours of education every year in basic stroke assessment, intervention, and NIHSS to be completed by 6 months of hire and continuously maintained thereafter.
  • PALS or ENPC attained within 12 months of hire or transfer.
  • Current staff is required to obtain CPI by 6/30/24. New hires or transfers: CPI required within 6 months of hire and continuously maintained after.
Trauma Bay
  • Trauma experience required; 2 years preferred.
  • ACLS, PALS & ATCN at time of hire.
Harmony Trauma/ICU
  • 2 years medical/surgical experience preferred;
    Critical care experience preferred.
  • ACLS required at time of hire. ATCN required within 3 years from date of hire or transfer.
Intensive Care Unit (ICU)/(CTICU)
  • 2 years medical/surgical experience preferred;
    Critical care experience preferred.
  • ACLS required within 6 months from date of hire or transfer.
  • CCRN preferred.
Cardiovascular ICU (CVU)
  • 2 years critical care and cardiovascular ICU experience preferred.
  • ACLS required within 6 months from date of hire or transfer.
