Job Description

ATLANTICARE-ROLE DESCRIPTION POSITION SUMMARY The Perioperative Nurse is responsible for providing exceptional patient care and family support throughout the three phases of the surgical experience. This position provides the physician members of the healthcare team with the equipment, supplies and support in the Pre-Op and PACU areas. This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to team work and cooperation.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing;
Bachelors in nursing preferred. Current licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey required. BLS required upon hire or transfer. ACLS and PALS required designated by specialty below. Ability to effectively communicate with others and adjust to changes within daily schedule of activities required. Prior Ambulatory Surgery Center experience preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire. WORK ENVIRONMENT Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, blood borne pathogens, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury. This position works in a busy, noisy environment and has frequent interruptions requiring re-evaluation of priorities.

This position requires standing for long periods of time, occasional lifting up to 20 pounds and walking short distances quickly. The essential functions for this position are listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool. REPORTING RELATIONSHIP This position reports to department leadership. Qualifications

Specialty Experience Advanced Certification Required Preferred Certifications

PreOPPACU 1-3 years critical care experience preferred. ACLS required within 3 months from date of hire or transfer; PALS required within 6 months from date of hire or transfer.
* PALS will be required based on ASC pediatric population ASPAN preferred Certified Perianesthesia Ambulatory Nurse (CPAN), Certified Ambulatory Perianesthesia Nurse (CAPN)
