The Lead Technician is responsible for leading a group of assigned employees within their team, while maintaining and protecting their area of coverage and following company policies and safety regulations. The Lead Locate Technician is responsible for accurately locating underground facilities including, but not limited to, telephone lines, electric power lines, cable television lines, gas lines, fiber optic lines, water lines, and sewer lines, and assisting with leading the team to accomplish the same goal.

This position ensures area compliance with client and state requirements. Service duties include observing, locating, marking, and documenting underground and exposed utility locations, using multiple methods as required.

• Lead a group of assigned employees within the team, maintain coverage area, and follow company policies and safety regulations.
• Accurately locate underground facilities (telephone, electric, cable, gas, fiber, water, sewer) and assist the team to accomplish this goal.
• Observe, locate, mark, and document underground and exposed utility locations.
• Dispatch to locate and verify for utility customers.
• Oversee daily scheduling of contractors and sub-contractors.
• Route tickets to ensure optimized efficiency.
• Develop game plans to achieve daily production targets and provide help when needed.
• Review prior days’ documents and reports; review daily expectations and safety messages; adjust as needed.
• Audit documents and ensure compliance with client regulations; establish client quality assurance and resolve problems when needed.
• Ensure all team members’ timesheets are correct and team members are accounted for.

• Must complete a background check; company policy requires no violations within the last 3 years.
• Must pass a DOT drug test.
• All employees are assigned proper technology and work vehicles to perform duties.
• Tools provided to achieve performance, including: company vehicle, laptop, and smartphone; all personal protective equipment provided.
