• High School Diploma
• Valid NJ driver’s license
• Valid driver’s license for at least three (3) years
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to follow directions and adhere to rules and regulations
• Ability to relate to school age children from PreK-12
• Ability to learn bus routes and be on time
• Ability to successfully acquire a CDL license (District will train applicants to become bus drivers)
• Ability to control a school bus in emergency situations
• Ability to work a flexible work day in morning and afternoon
• Ability to pass the required physical examination to obtain CDL license
• Ability to pass the required Criminal History Review
• Ability to pass the Sexual Misconduct Child Abuse Disclosure
• Other duties as assigned by Director of Transportation

• Current CDL license
• 2-3 years driving a school bus

• Obeys all traffic laws
• Observes mandatory safety regulations for school buses
• Maintains discipline when students are on the bus
• Reports unruly students to the proper authority
• Keeps assigned bus clean
• Keeps to assigned schedule
li>Checks bus before each operation for mechanical defects
• Checks bus after each run to ensure all students are off the bus
• Notifies proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness
• Discharges students only at authorized stops
• Exercises responsible leadership when on out-of-district school trips
• Transports only authorized students and authorized school personnel
• Reports all accidents and completes the required reports
• Enforces regulations against smoking and eating on the bus
• Ensures all students are in their seats

• Available for 5-Hour or 6-Hour day
• Willing to train individuals wanting to be a bus driver
• Health, Dental, and Retirement (PERS) Benefits (contracted drivers)
• Starting rate of $23,790 (5-hour) - $28,548 (6-hour)

• Able to climb steps to enter the bus
• Able to drive a 54 passenger bus
• Able to raise arms and use hands to steer a school bus
• Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Able to tilt head to look into rearview mirror to monitor students
• Able to sit and drive a school bus for long periods of time
• Able to walk through and clean out a school bus.
