Primary purpose of the Teacher of Applied Law and Criminology is to provide an outstanding student experience through teaching and assessment, enabling students to maximise their potential. This involves delivering effective teaching programmes within the lecturer's areas of competence, developing responsive teaching methods to meet learners' needs, and supporting students through various stages of their learning journey, from application to progression.

In addition to the core responsibilities, the Teacher of Applied Law and Criminology plays a crucial role in fostering an environment that encourages student engagement and active learning. This includes adapting teaching strategies to cater to diverse learning styles, integrating practical experiences with theoretical knowledge, and utilising technology to enhance educational delivery.
