Assistant‑Associate Professor in Biomechanics of Regenerative Implants Job Description

As an assistant/associate professor, you will establish a new research direction in the field of Regenerative Engineering & Materials (REM) with a strong emphasis on biomechanics of regenerative implants. Your role will include:

  • Leading a research group that focuses on biomechanics of regenerative implants, preferably in hard tissues.
  • Developing and publishing high‑quality, impactful research, including data‑driven and hybrid modeling approaches.
  • Securing external research funding and building collaborations with researchers and research programs within the cluster, the department, TU/e, and internationally.
  • Developing, teaching, and continuously improving courses for the BSc, MSc, and PhD educational programmes in the Biomedical Engineering department, particularly in biomechanics.
  • Supervising and mentoring BSc, MSc, EngD, and PhD students.
Job Requirements
  • A PhD in biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field with a keen interest in biomechanics and regenerative medicine.
  • A distinguished record of academic achievements in research and education, reflected in high‑quality, impactful publications, research‑based product ideas, patents, or other outputs.
  • Ability to secure external research funding.
  • An informed vision on teaching and learning within your discipline and the ability to contribute to the teaching program of the cluster.
  • Strong cooperation skills and the ability to work in an interdisciplinary team.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills, including coaching and mentoring of students and staff.
  • Excellent written and verbal proficiency in English and preferably Dutch.
