Automation Engineer - PCS

Position: Automation Engineer - PCS7
We are supporting a major pharmaceutical manufacturing site in the Netherlands that is expanding its automation capabilities and looking for an experienced PCS 7 Automation Engineer to join a long-term project within Drug Product or Packaging operations. This role is ideal for an automation professional with strong Siemens PCS 7 experience in GMP environments who enjoys leading projects and working in highly regulated manufacturing environments.

The Role
You will play a key role in delivering automation solutions within a pharmaceutical production facility, supporting the design, implementation, commissioning, and validation of PCS 7 systems.

Key Responsibilities

Lead automation projects focused on Siemens PCS 7 within Drug Product or Packaging manufacturing.

Translate operational requirements into Functional Specifications and automation designs.

Design and configure batch and process control systems aligned with ISA-88 standards.

Develop system architecture, control strategies, and reusable libraries.

Support commissioning, qualification, and validation activities in GMP environments.

Work cross-functionally with Process, Operations, Engineering, and Quality teams.

Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and support project delivery.

Support OT integration, system administration, and lifecycle improvements.

Experience Required

10+ years of automation experience within pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical manufacturing.

Strong hands‑on experience with Siemens PCS 7 in GMP environments.

Proven experience delivering automation system design, commissioning, and qualification.

Solid understanding of ISA-88 batch standards.

Knowledge of GAMP5, 21 CFR Part 11, and validation lifecycle documentation.

Experience with AVEVA, Delta

V, or ABB systems is beneficial.

Strong stakeholder communication skills and experience working on complex projects.
