Position Summary  We are looking for a  Senior System Architect with strong machine vision expertise  to lead the development of advanced inspection systems. In this role, you will define and own system architectures that combine optics, imaging hardware, and intelligent vision algorithms.
You are not only a technical expert, but also a  technical lead  who translates customer needs into robust solutions and leads multidisciplinary development projects from concept to industrialization.

Key Responsibilities  System Architecture & Technical Leadership   Define and own end-to-end system architectures for machine vision solutions (optics, sensors, illumination, hardware, and software)
Lead system-level design decisions, balancing performance, cost, robustness, and scalability
Ensure seamless integration across optics, mechanics, electronics, and software
Troubleshoot complex system issues across disciplines when needed
Machine Vision & Optical Engineering   Design and optimize imaging systems for high-precision inspection of glass products
Define and select key components such as cameras, lenses, illumination, and sensors
Translate optical performance into algorithmic requirements and vice versa
Algorithms & AI   Define and guide the development of image processing and computer vision algorithms, having Vimec’s existing framework and codebase in mind
Oversee implementation of defect detection, measurement, and classification methods
Drive the integration of AI/ML solutions into inspection systems
Drive development projects from concept through prototyping to release
Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and ensure timely delivery of project milestones
Act as the technical decision-maker and escalation point within projects
Customer & Product Translation   Translate customer requirements, application challenges, and field feedback into system specifications
Contribute to product strategy and roadmap based on market needs and technology trends
Support customer trials, feasibility studies, and acceptance processes
Act as technical lead in multidisciplinary teams
Mentor junior engineers and support knowledge sharing
Drive technical decision-making and best practices
Collaborate closely with internal and external R&D partners
Qualifications  Education   MSc or PhD in Systems engineering, Physics, Computer Vision, or related field
Experience   10+ years of experience in machine vision, imaging systems, or high-tech equipment
Proven track record in system architecture and technical leadership
Experience in driving complex development projects
Experience in industrial inspection (pharmaceutical or similar) is a strong plus
Technical Skills   Strong knowledge of optics, imaging systems, and component selection

Experience with image processing and computer vision (e.g. Python, Matlab, OpenCV)
Familiarity with Machine Learning / AI in vision applications
Broad understanding of system integration (hardware & software)
Strong system-level thinking and analytical skills
Leadership and ownership mindset
Ability to bridge customer needs and technical solutions
Decisive, structured, and results-driven
Excellent communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
