What you will do    Own the system engineering of Cypris.  Take responsibility for a defined part of the system architecture, from high-level concept through detailed design, integration, verification, and validation at the customer site. This includes building a system breakdown and function breakdown, identifying what is critical functionality for the end customer versus what is nice-to-have, and understanding the multidisciplinary impact of design decisions before they are made.
Drive the full V-model.  Translate stakeholder and product requirements into system requirements, decompose these into subsystem specifications, and track them all the way through build, test, and acceptance.
Guide and manage a large supplier base.  Morphotonics works with a group of 40+ subcontractors who handle detailed design and manufacturing of subsystem modules. You will specify what they build, guide their engineering work, review and challenge their detailed designs, and verify and validate their deliverables against your requirements.
Bridge disciplines.  Collaborate daily with mechanical engineers, PLC programmers, and the software team. Discuss system behavior and interface definitions with the software architect. Review mechanical designs and interpret electrical and software architectures.
Work hands-on with the system.  Get on the machine. Troubleshoot integration issues, support testing, and be present during installations at customer sites. Understanding a system up to its smallest details is not a nice-to-have here; it is the expectation.
Grow as part of the system engineering team.  You and our system architect will work as peers on Cypris, each owning your focus areas.
Technical environment   Methodology: V-model for system-level design, applied from initiation through customer acceptance
Requirements engineering: structured decomposition and traceability from system to subsystem level
Mechanical review:
Solid Works for reading, interpreting, and challenging supplier designs
Interfaces: system-level electrical and software interface definition and review
Subcontractor management: specification, direction, review, and validation of third-party deliverables
Machine context: industrial nanoimprint lithography systems with PLC controllers, cleanroom assembly, international shipping, and on-site installation
Team: approximately 10 engineers total across system, mechanical, and software disciplines
What you bring   Deep mechatronics expertise. A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, combined with proven experience in complex system engineering.
End-to-end V-model experience. You have worked the full cycle: requirements, design, integration, verification, validation. You are not a specialist in one phase; you understand all of them and can own a thread through the entire model.
Hands-on comfort with systems. You have rolled up your sleeves and worked directly on machines or complex mechatronic systems. You enjoy it.
Requirements engineering discipline. You can write clear, traceable requirements and decompose them into subsystem specifications that subcontractors can actually build to.
Supplier and stakeholder management. You have directed external parties on technical deliverables and held them accountable against your specifications.
Mechanical design literacy. You can read and critically review designs in Solid Works and identify integration risks or specification deviations.
Cross-discipline communication. You are comfortable discussing interface definitions with software architects, PLC engineers, and mechanical engineers without needing everything translated for you.
Seniority and ownership mindset. You take responsibility for outcomes, not just tasks. You surface issues early and propose solutions.
Nice to have   Experience reviewing electrical designs and software architectures alongside mechanical designs
Background in semiconductor equipment, precision machinery, or other high-tech capital equipment
Field service or customer-site installation experience
Familiarity with embedded systems or PLC programming concepts
