Job Description & How to Apply Below
And do you want to contribute to innovative hightech projects that help our customers build up a lasting lead in the world of technology? While at the same time you will be working for a company where you and your personal development are our priority? Then you are the candidate we are looking for!
Position Overview
You will make a difference as Opto-Mechanical Researcher. Here's how integrated photonics is rapidly emerging. It uses complex optical circuits to process and transmit signals of light. Applications include green datacenters, LIDAR for driverless cars, advanced sensor and quantum communication. TNO aims to accelerate the development of the Dutch and European industry around integrated photonics. With TNO, the University of Twente, Eindhoven University of Technology, and Photon Delta, we have established the Photonic Integration Technology Center (PITC) to bridge the gap between research and industrial application in integrated photonics.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
Design and build optical setups for visible, near-infrared and thermal infrared wavelength (cameras, microscopes, free-space optical table setups).
Design optical coupling solutions for integrated photonics (micro-optical bench).
Develop optical alignment routines that are scalable and flexible, both for single optical path or array of optical paths.
Testing and verification of packaging solutions.
DOE and statistical analysis of packaging and photonic experimentation.
Can direct and manage projects from sourcing components, interacting with suppliers and partners and taking ownership and seeing projects from inception till completion.
An BSC or MSC degree in mechanical, optical or similar engineering discipline.
Hands‑on experience (> 3 years) with building optical setups.
Experience using optical simulation software (e.g. Zemax or similar).
Experience using mechanical design software (e.g. Solid Works or similar).
Ability or willingness to learn photonic chip packaging processes (die bonding, wire bonding, flip chip).
Good teamwork and personal skills.
Ability to communicate with different stakeholders in a project (electronic engineers, photonic engineers, applications architects, etc.).
Can‑do‑it attitude.
Preferable:
Knowledge of integrated photonics.
Preferable:
Experience with writing simple automation scripts.
Benefits
A driven team and an inspiring working environment where our motto #techwithaheartbeat is at the heart of our company!
