Mechanical Architect

We are seeking a Mechanical Architect with a strong background in Precision Engineering and an affinity for Optomechanics to contribute to the development of next‑generation high‑tech systems. In this role, you will define and drive the mechanical architecture of complex products and equipment used in industries such as semiconductor manufacturing, photonics, advanced instrumentation, medical technology, aerospace, and scientific research.

About the Role
As a key technical leader, you will translate system‑level requirements into robust, manufacturable, and high‑performance mechanical solutions while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Responsibilities

Define, develop, and maintain the mechanical architecture of complex high‑tech systems.

Translate system requirements into mechanical concepts, specifications, and design guidelines.

Lead critical architectural decisions throughout the product development lifecycle.

Analyze and optimize tolerance chains, stiffness, thermal stability, vibration behavior, and precision performance.

Apply precision engineering principles to achieve demanding accuracy, repeatability, and reliability requirements.

Collaborate closely with system architects, optical engineers, mechatronics engineers, software developers, and electronics specialists.

Guide engineering teams through concept development, detailed design, integration, and validation phases.

Identify technical risks and drive mitigation strategies.

Support verification and validation activities to ensure system performance targets are met.

Act as a technical authority and trusted advisor for internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

MSc or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Precision Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline.

Several years of experience in a senior engineering, lead engineering, or architectural role within a high‑tech environment.

Required Skills

Strong expertise in precision mechanical design and engineering principles.

Proven experience with complex systems where precision, stability, and performance are critical.

Affinity with or experience in optomechanical systems, including optical alignment, positioning systems, optical mounts, photonics, or related technologies.

Knowledge of structural, thermal, and dynamic analysis methodologies.

Experience with simulation tools such as FEA and tolerance analysis software.

Understanding of manufacturing processes, assembly methods, and industrialization challenges.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Fluent in English;
Dutch is considered an advantage.
