System Innovation (SI) is part of the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Innovation Management and System Enablement (IM&SE)  System Innovation (SI) group serves as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to Business Lines, GSM, and customers, driving forward‑looking system and application innovations across NXP. The team accelerates insight creation by developing and demonstrating tangible system and application proof‑of‑concepts that showcase NXP's capabilities both internally and to external customers.

With a strong focus on anticipating future technology trends, the group gathers and translates innovative system and application insights into meaningful input for BL roadmaps. System Innovation also cultivates and maintains strong partnerships across customers and the broader ecosystem‑including universities, research institutes, and collaborative project consortia‑to enhance innovation and accelerate new business development. By supporting emerging markets and integrating technologies, IP, and products across all NXP entities, the group enables cross‑portfolio solutions that highlight the full potential of NXP's competencies and technology leadership.

Job Summary  NXP is looking for an experienced and highly innovative System Architect Radar Systems to drive the definition, development, and deployment of next‑generation automotive and robotic radar solutions. In this role, you will provide technical leadership to the system innovation team from concept creation and system architecture through hardware realization, embedded software implementation, system integration, and validation. You will work closely with multidisciplinary global teams to introduce advanced sensing and radar concepts for automotive and robotics applications.

The ideal candidate combines a strong foundation in RF and radar technologies with deep expertise in signal processing, embedded systems, algorithm development, and practical system realization. You are passionate about solving difficult technical challenges, capable of bridging multiple engineering disciplines, and able to drive innovation from idea to implementation.

Key Responsibilities  Technical Leadership   Development of system solutions / demos to show off the features and benefits of our radar products
Lead technical decision‑making across radar sensing, RF front‑end, signal processing, embedded software, and system integration domains
Drive innovation through the development of new radar concepts, algorithms, diagnostics, and sensing capabilities
Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across globally distributed development teams
Act as a key technical interface toward customers, partners, and internal stakeholders
Radar System Development   Define radar system requirements, performance budgets, and technical specifications
Drive radar architecture trade‑off analyses covering RF performance, antenna concepts, signal processing, compute requirements, power consumption, and cost
Lead development of advanced FMCW radar sensing solutions, including calibration, diagnostics, interference mitigation, and performance optimization
Define system validation approaches and performance metrics from simulation through vehicle‑level testing
Support technology roadmaps for future radar and sensing platforms
System Integration & Validation   Drive end‑to‑end system integration from silicon and RF subsystems to complete radar applications
Define and execute laboratory, vehicle, and customer validation activities
Develop innovative test methodologies, measurement setups, and automation frameworks
Support root‑cause analysis and resolution of complex system‑level issues

Required Qualifications   MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Signal Processing, Telecommunications, Physics, Computer Engineering, or related field
10+ years of experience in radar systems, RF systems, ADAS sensing, or related high‑performance embedded systems
Proven track record defining and delivering complex system architectures from concept through production
Strong expertise in FMCW radar systems and radar signal processing
Deep understanding of RF systems, antennas, and radar front‑end architectures
Extensive experience in algorithm development, simulation, implementation, and system validation
Proficiency with MATLAB, Python, C and/or C++
Experience working across hardware, software, and algorithm development disciplines
Strong analytical and debugging skills with a hands‑on engineering mindset

Preferred Qualifications   

Experience with automotive radar products operating in the 77GHz and 79GHz bands
Knowledge of radar SoCs, radar transceivers, and embedded radar processing architectures

Experience with antenna concepts, antenna matching, and RF characterization
Knowledge of functional safety (ISO 26262) and automotive development processes

Experience with machine‑learning‑assisted sensing applications
Experience implementing DSP algorithms on embedded processors, DSP cores
