Job Description:

Service Systems Engineer
Position Summary
The Service Systems Engineer is a lab-based technical role responsible for enabling, sustaining, and continuously improving service capabilities within assigned Fluke service laboratories. This role acts as the primary technical bridge between the lab and Service Engineering, Metrology, Quality, Design Engineering, MSD, Operations, and other cross-functional partners.

The Service Lab Engineer ensures the lab is prepared to successfully "land" new product introductions, engineering changes, service method updates, software transitions, equipment upgrades, and capability expansions. While NPI implementation is an important part of the role, the primary focus is maintaining and improving service lab equipment, calibration systems, test stations, measurement processes, automation solutions, and operational performance throughout the lifecycle of the products serviced.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in manufacturing engineering, test engineering, electrical engineering, automation, DFX, and/or metrology-related environments. This individual is hands-on, analytical, self-directed, and capable of solving complex technical problems while driving standardization and continuous improvement across the global Fluke service network.

Key Responsibilities
Service Capability & NPI Integration

Serve as the primary technical point of contact for assigned service labs.

Partner with Service Engineering to assess and prepare labs for new product introductions, including equipment, software, calibration capability, tooling, processes, and technician readiness.

Support successful implementation of new service capabilities, engineering changes, software releases, and product transitions.

Provide feedback to engineering teams on serviceability, lab readiness, process gaps, and improvement opportunities.

Test Systems, Metrology & Technical Support

Maintain and improve test systems, calibration equipment, instrumentation, service stations, automated workflows, and measurement processes.

Partner closely with Metrology to ensure compliance with measurement best practices, including traceability, uncertainty requirements, measurement integrity, and calibration alignment.

Troubleshoot complex electrical, software, equipment, and process issues, providing technical leadership during escalations, line-down events, and other operational disruptions.

Support measurement method validation, test process optimization, and continuous improvement of technical capability within the lab.

Product Lifecycle & Continuous Improvement

Support implementation of engineering changes, service method updates, hardware and software upgrades, corrective actions, and stop-ship activities.

Lead or support FBS initiatives including standardization, automation, kaizen events, capacity planning, line balancing, visual management, and root-cause problem solving.

Identify and implement solutions that improve quality, efficiency, throughput, repeatability, technician effectiveness, and customer experience.

Drive adoption of global best practices, standardized lab configurations, and scalable service solutions across the Fluke service network.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Build strong partnerships with Metrology, Service Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Design Engineering, Quality, MSD, Operations, and technician teams.

Act as the bridge between engineering and lab operations, ensuring technical solutions are practical, sustainable, and executable.

Promote knowledge sharing, global standardization, and continuous feedback loops that improve products, service methods, equipment, and laboratory performance.

Qualifications
Required

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or equivalent technical experience.

5+ year experience in one or more of the following areas:

Manufacturing Engineering

Test Engineering

Electrical Engineering

Service Engineering

DFX / Design for Serviceability / Design for Manufacturing

Automation or Process Engineering

Metrology, calibration, or measurement system environments

Strong knowledge of technical equipment, instrumentation, test systems, calibration systems, or service lab operations.

Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical, mechanical, software, process, or system-level issues.

Strong analytical, root cause analysis, and structured problem-solving skills.

Ability to interpret technical documentation, service procedures, engineering changes, test requirements, and equipment specifications.

Effective communication skills with the ability to work across engineering, operations, quality, metrology, and technician teams.

Preferred

Experience in a service lab, repair center, calibration laboratory, production test environment, or manufacturing technical support role.

Familiarity with metrology concepts such as traceability, measurement uncertainty, calibration alignment, measurement method validation, and gage R&R.

Experience with automated test systems, test sequencing software, data…
