The Materials and Structural Analysis Division (MSD) enables customers to find meaningful answers to questions that accelerate breakthrough discoveries and ultimately change the world. We design, manufacture, and support a broad range of high-performance microscopy and spectroscopy workflows on wafers and single chips that provide images and answers in the micro-, nano-, and picometer scales. We combine hardware and software expertise in electron and ion microscopy with deep application knowledge in the materials science, life sciences, electronics, and natural resources markets.

As an Operations Engineer TEM, you will be part of a passionate and hardworking team in Eindhoven working with our ground-breaking Transmission Electron Microscopes (TEM)! Our TEM technology enables and supports Nobel Prize-winning research and played a significant role in the early assessment of COVID
19. The impact of your work is visible, and you will actively chip in to the latest breakthroughs in Science!
A high-end TEM system comprises of several sophisticated modules enabling the high-resolution imaging and numerous other applications like EDX, EELS etc. In this function within Operations Engineering you will support the introduction and sustainability of one of the advanced modules to the manufacturing. A proven background in Physics in combination with knowledge about imaging and detection are the desired skills for this role, however, passion for innovative technology and mindset to embrace challenges are the key virtues to make this role a success.

This role will allow you to be in a pivotal position within the organization. You will not only be supporting the manufacturing but also work cross-functionally with R&D, Service, Logistics, Product Lifecycle Management, Quality, Sourcing and Supply Chain partners.
As part of the Operations Engineering, this is an opportunity to join our fast-paced, dynamic system integration modules team, where you will focus on supporting manufacturing to ensure efficient processes and flawless introduction of new products and features alongside highly technically competent colleagues.

Module Ownership; this role focuses specifically on supporting the introduction, sustainability, and optimization of advanced modules like EDX within manufacturing
Validation & Testing; you will run hands-on testing, validation, and calibration of the high-precision detection electronics and vacuum integration required for EDX
Cross-Functional Link; you serve as the main technical link between the R&D team designing the EDX software/hardware and the factory technicians assembling it, field installation support for Service Support group and/or vendor/supplier management for EDX modules developed with external suppliers
Manufacturing Technical Troubleshooting; solve sophisticated electronic and integration issues during final system validation
Supporting or leading NPI projects according to Product Management Process (PMP) and multi-functional Operations improvement projects
Process Standardization; author exact work instructions for, service documentation, cleanroom assembly, and validation steps
Performing hands-on assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and training of personnel as required
Supplier Collaboration; work directly with external suppliers to fix part quality issues affecting module performance. Manage the physics and technical compliance of the vendor's manufacturing line
Submitting or implementing engineering changes to improve quality, manufacturability, costs of components/modules
