About the role
Are you a highly experienced mechanical engineer who thrives on solving the most complex technical challenges? As a Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will play a leading role in the architecture, design, and realization of high-precision systems that push the limits of performance, accuracy, and reliability.
Responsibilities
Working at the forefront of precision engineering, you will contribute to the most advanced systems that Prodrive develops, think of custom metrology equipment, nanometer accuracy positioning stages and other integrated systems. With your expertise, you will guide multidisciplinary teams, influence technical roadmaps, and drive innovative solutions from concept through industrialization. Your responsibilities are:
Lead the development of complex precision mechanical and mechatronic systems.
Define system architectures and make critical design decisions for high-performance products.
Design and review precision mechanisms, flexure systems, and optomechanical assemblies.
Drive technical excellence in areas such as thermal stability, stiffness, dynamic behaviour, and sub‑micron positioning accuracy.
Perform and oversee structural and thermal analyses to validate system performance.
Guide Design for Manufacturing activities, ensuring robust and cost‑effective solutions.
Mentor and coach engineers, providing technical leadership across projects and disciplines.
Act as a key technical stakeholder for customers, suppliers, and internal development teams.

What You Bring
Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
Expert in design principles and optomechanics
At least 15 years of experience in mechanical design and development of high‑tech products
Strong knowledge of design for performance and control of dynamic/motion systems
Extensive experience with Design for Manufacturing and precision machining technologies
Proficiency with CAD tools, preferably Siemens NX
Demonstrated ability to lead technically complex projects and influence multidisciplinary teams
Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
