Our platform transforms OSINT into actionable insights on China's Defense Industrial Base and broader technological ecosystem through advanced data processing and analysis.
The RoleDo you enjoy transforming complex data into strategic insights that drive critical decisions? As a China Research Analyst, you will execute analytical research projects for our government clients, helping answer their most pressing questions about China's techno-economic landscape through data-driven analysis. Working closely with Senior Analysts and in partnership with our Customer Success Managers, you will leverage Datenna's existing data to uncover patterns, connections, and insights that inform high-stakes policy and security decisions.
You will conduct both qualitative and quantitative analysis on China's corporate, academic, and innovation sectors, executing research plans and contributing to comprehensive client reports. This role offers the opportunity to develop your China expertise and analytical skills while working on meaningful national security challenges.
What Makes You a Great CandidateCore Requirements:
- Experience: 1-3 years of professional experience in China-focused research, analysis, or related fields (including internships and academic research).
- China expertise: Foundational knowledge of Chinese industry, economy, policies, and innovation ecosystem, ideally gained through academic study, think tank experience, or research roles.
- Analytical skills: Strong pattern-recognition and analytical abilities to identify connections between corporate, state, and military actors in China's techno-economic landscape.
- Chinese language proficiency: Reading proficiency in Chinese (minimum HSK4, HSK5 preferred) to work with Chinese-language sources and company information as needed.
- Research execution: Ability to break down research questions into manageable components, execute multi-week research tasks, and deliver quality output with guidance from senior team members.
Technical
Skills:
- Basic familiarity with at least one data analysis tool (Python, R, SQL, Excel) or demonstrated willingness to quickly learn how to work with large datasets.
Nice to Have:
- Experience in the innovation, science, and technology sector within governmental organizations, think tanks, or international corporate settings.
- Background conducting research for external clients or stakeholders.
