Consultant / Receptionist who dares to ask further
A language barrier does not prevent you from finding out what our clients need.
Who are weRefugees in the Knel offers protection to refugees who have been rejected and are therefore excluded from provisions. We work on the principle that every person is entitled to a decent life. That is why we are committed to ensuring that these refugees have access to basic services and, where possible, we offer them intensive social and legal guidance.
Who are youYou are involved with our target group of undocumented migrants and you want to contribute to their worthy existence. You stand firmly in your shoes and are a real go-getter. You are in good contact with a very diverse target group. You can keep a good overview and you like variety.
What are you going to doClients can walk in without opening an appointment during our office opening hours. They come with very different requests for help that you have to find out. Sometimes quite a challenge because of language barrier or complicated material.
You help the client as much as possible yourself or give a careful transfer to a colleague.
Your duties consist of:
- Making agreements with medical care providers such as (family) doctor and dentist.
- Select mail and call clients to collect their mail (we are mailing address for 100 clients).
- First intake of refugees who want shelter. Gather information about his or her situation.
- Facilitate colleagues so that they can perform their work in peace. Think of:
Managing the agenda of the consultation rooms, arranging coffee and tea, small office tasks, keeping office space in order, scanning files.
You work closely with the contact person, who handles the more extensive requests for help and is your source of information.
How much time does this take1 part of the day per week (in consultation other interpretation)
Team consultations 3 to 4 times a year, possibly training sessions or other interesting meetings.

- Stress resistance, you can keep track and set priorities
- Reliability
- Careful in information collection and transfer
- Speaking Dutch, reading and writing and speaking English is a condition
- The ability to really contribute to the decent life of a refugee
- A warm and close team to work in
- Guidance, support and training, with a thorough training process
