Home Start

Humanitas Home-Start offers parenting and family support for parents with child(ren) of 0-18 years for whom parenting is difficult. In accordance with your wishes and qualities, you will support a family a part of the day per week for a period of approximately 1 year.

• You are someone with a listening ear and an open mind for what concerns families.
• You have experience in raising children yourself.
• You are enthusiastic and have half a day a week.

• You offer practical help, for example by relieving parents by paying attention to the children or going outside with their parents; it can also involve learning to ride a bike or helping a teenager plan his homework.
• You also offer a listening ear and you think along in possibilities.
• You help a parent to look for solutions themselves, so that they can look forward to the future with confidence.
• By your presence and input you take the pressure off the boiler and bring peace to the family.

Before you start as a volunteer, you first receive training so that you can help families well prepared. You receive professional guidance and support from the Home-Start coordinator. Moreover, the coordinator regularly organizes interesting theme meetings, so that you can continue to grow in your work. During the return meetings you exchange experiences with the other volunteers. That's how you learn from each other.
